Community Resource Coordination Groups (known as CRCG's) are local interagency groups, comprised of public and private providers who come together to develop individual services plans for children, youth, and adults whose needs can be met only through interagency coordination and cooperation. CRCG's originated when the Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 298 into law in 1987. This bill directed the state agencies serving children to develop a community-based approach to provide better coordination of services for children and youth who have multi-agency needs and require interagency coordination.
CRCG's are organized and established on a county-by-county basis. The members are from public and private sector child-serving agencies within that county. Many CRCG's include parents of children with disabilities as regular members. Through a collaborative effort, CRCG members meet in partnership with the family to plan for needed services that would enhance the quality of life for those individuals.
Harris County Alliance/CRCG encourages collaboration, cooperation and coordination among agencies, prevention of duplication of services, increases agencies' understanding of one another's services and ensures that service delivery is not impeded by system problems. Harris County Alliance/CRCG serves as a vital resource in addressing the needs of children and youth who require interagency coordination.
Harris County Protective Services for Children and Adults (HCPS) employs a full time coordinator to facilitate the Alliance/CRCG process The coordinator serves as a liaison to the local agency members, facilitates the staffing meetings and provides linkage to services as recommended by the CRCG collaborative group. Harris County Alliance/CRCG serves those who are less than 22 years old, who meet an agency's statutory age limitation for eligibility, who are currently receiving services or have received services in the past from one of child-serving agency members, and who have multi-agency needs that cannot be met without interagency coordination.
